Dieser Satz, eine absolut unerträgliche und unvorstellbare, ja undenkbare Wirklichkeit beschreibend, ist Ausgangspunkt meines Projekts. Die künstlerischen Kinderhände sollen aus Sand bestehen, wie "Versteinerungen" aus der Wüste wirken, oder jedenfalls an Wüste und Wüstensand erinnern.
Entsprechend dem Arbeitsfortschritt werden die Ergebnisse hier eingestellt.

This sentence, describing an absolutely unbearable and unimaginable, even unthinkable reality, is the starting point of my project. The artistic children's hands should be made of sand, look like "fossils" from the desert, or at least remind of desert and desert sand.

Die beiden Schalenhälften werden jeweils zusammengefügt, innen mit Vaseline (Trennmittel) ausgestrichen und mit Sand paniert.

Tims fertig gegossene Kinderhand. Viel besser wird man den "Sandeindruck" der Hand vermutlich kaum hinbekommen. Mehr Sand wäre natürlich wünschenswert. Problem ist aber, je mehr Sand mit dem Harz vermischt wird, desto zähflüssiger wird die Masse und bildet dann schlechter ab.

Der hautverträgliche Silikon ist eingetroffen. Jetzt wird die Hand zuerst in Silikon eingebettet (in mehreren Schichten aufgepinselt). Dann erst wird die Silikonabformung mit Gipsbinden umhüllt - diese dienen dazu, dass die weiche, ausgezogene Silikonform in Form bleibt. Ich habe die Gipsbindenumhüllung in zwei Hälften ausgeführt, damit sie leicht abnehmbar ist.
The skin-compatible silicone has arrived. Now the hand is first embedded in silicone (brushed on in several layers). Only then is the silicone "glove" encased in plaster bandages - these are used to ensure that the soft, drawn-out silicone mold stays in shape. I made the plaster bandage wrapping in two halves so that it can be removed more easily.

Tims Handhaltung hat sich durch die Silikon-Schichten langsam und unwillentlich verändert.

Silikon-Abguss und Gips-Halteschale von Lios Hand. Die zweischalige Gipsbindenumhüllung der Silikonabformung wurde noch mit Gips verstärkt, so dass nun eine ca. 1cm dicke zweischalige Gipsform vorliegt.

Beim Abziehen des "Silikonhandschuhs" haben wir bemerkt, dass der Daumen noch wackelt und also nicht noch nicht ganz ausgehärtet ist. Deshalb lieber die anderen Finger nicht gefährden und eine Nacht warten.
Vorn links die halb ausgezogene fertig gegossene Hand Lios, rechts Tims Hand bereits ausgossen beim aushärten. Das Stück Fahrradschlauch hält die beiden Gipsschalen zusammen.

Laurins (3 1/2 Jahre) Faust - eine Silikongußvariante wird versucht.

Evtl. könnte das "Fingeralphabet" bzw. die Gebärdensprache eine Rolle spielen.
Zunächst würde ich aber als Ausgangspunkt die vom Kind gewählte Handhaltung wählen.
Perhaps the "finger alphabet" or sign language could play a role.
First, however, I would choose the hand position selected by the child as a starting point.
